I did speak a little about working on websites in other sections of this website but here I will discuss the topic in detail. I will try making a bit of a prediction. You are in this section because you either are interested in building your own website, start building websites for other people to make money or need a website but would like someone else to do it for you. As far as the last point goes, I’ll talk more about it in the end. For now let’s just assume you want to learn how to build websites for either personal reasons or financial gain. Whichever it is, I’m glad you found me. I know how tough it can be starting out and I will be happy in any way I can help you. You might be thinking
“what do you get out of it?” and “why would you help your potential competitor?”
Don’t worry. I won’t charge you for the help I provide. I am more than happy to help and online I don’t see us as competition. The Internet is a vast place and I’m sure that we’ll all fit here.
So, what’s the first thing to think about when you want to build a website? Well, a lot of it depends on how much you know about coding and such. If you’re a complete newbie, you are better off just going through WordPress templates and finding a theme there. It’s much easier to start with but it is far from all what you will need to do.
Let’s say you found a template you will use. Make a list of all the things you will add there – blog posts, menu, sidebars, banners, etc. Think from a visitor’s point of view. How will they navigate on your website? Do all subcategories of the menu make sense? How will they share your content?
I know it’s only a rough guide but building a website is really a trial and error kind of a project. And with so many options to choose from, I cannot write a complete guide to answer all of your questions. One thing I will say though. Do not be afraid to try. Research how websites you like visiting work. And ask questions. Send them to me, post on forums. It doesn’t matter. The most important thing is to try and then you’ll figure everything out as you move along.
Now, if you do want to have a website but need someone to help you out, feel free to contact me. Explain to me what is your website idea and I will give you a rough estimate of how much it would cost. Timing-wise I don’t usually take longer than 10 days to complete unless there’s very much to do from scratch.
