A-GO-GO has a special place in my hard. I don’t know whether you can really call it a style of design. I guess because in the end of the day, you can distinguish it from other styles. Anyway, maybe it’s my interest in comic books, maybe something else but A-Go-Go really caught my eye.
What it is? Well, the best example of A-Go-Go may probably be the album by The Supremes called A’ Go Go. It is a pop, R&B album released by Motown in 1966. It is the ninth album released by The Supremes. Anyway, I won’t touch the songs. Maybe you like it, maybe you don’t. However, take a look at the album cover. It is sort of funky, caught in a moment picture of Dianna Ross and the group.
I just love it. This kind of in-motion pictures and covers. Believe it or not, it’s still relatively popular in this day and age.
I started doing A-Go-Go style covers for albums and comic books not that long ago actually. There’s not much what I could find about the style itself on the internet and in the end of the day, it is art. We are free to interpret it as we like, right? For now it has been mostly experiments, finding my own touch but I can already tell you that I have created a cover that will be featured in one of the comic books.
If you want to know more about this style, would like to share advice or learn it with me, feel free to contact me about it. As I said, it’s mostly experiments but I do understand that learning something is much easier with some sort of guidance.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
